How to drive in the snow....
TechnicalWell wth the weather continuing to hit us with snow and ice, driving conditions are far from perfect.

Most of us think we're expect drivers and can handle anything - but stop and think... do you really know how to drive in the snow? in fact do you really need to be driving at all in this weather?

Here's some tips:
  • When driving in snow, get your speed right - not too fast so that you risk losing control, but not so slow that you risk losing momentum when you need it - and brake, steer and accelerate as smoothly as possible.
  • Start gently from stationary, avoiding high revs. If you get yourself into a skid the main thing to remember is to take your foot off the pedals and steer.
  • Only use the brake if you cannot steer out of trouble.
  • Stay in a higher gear for better control, and if it is slippery, in a manual car move off in a higher gear, rather than just using first.
There's a great article on the BBC news pages with some words of wisdom  for snow driving which is a highly reccommended read - make sure you pack up well - there's an essentials list available - how well does your boot of goodies score?

And from the FFOC - just all take care and be safe!

Machine Marts Buyer's Guide To Power Washers

Pressure washers have been available for some years now, but recently prices have dropped and they are now affordable for both the domestic user and commercial user. There are literally thousands of things you can keep clean with a pressure washer, their use can become almost addictive, you clean one part of your property and the rest starts to look dirty too!
When looking at the specification of a pressure washer, there are several figures which should be taken into consideration.

Machine Marts Buyer’s Guide To Jacks

One of the most important items of lifting equipment in most automotive workshops has to be the hydraulic jack. Commonly offered in two forms - the bottle jack and the trolley jack. For lifting vehicles you'll need to look at trolley jacks, while bottle jacks are ideal for all manner of general workshop use.

Machine Mart also offers some specialist jacks designed for safely installing and removing transmissions, differentials and transfer boxes (for removing engines you'll need an engine lift).

FD Ford Focus CC - The Ford Focus family is getting a new arrival.
TechnicalArticle kindly written and supplied by ROBIN ROBERTS, Wheels Within Wales ©

Order books open in October for the Coupe Cabriolet with folding metal roof which will join the range in January 2007.

Developed from the Vignale concept which was shown at the Paris motor show in 2004, the Focus CC is a joint venture with StreetKa creators Pininfarina, which will assemble 20,000 a year in its Turin factory for world-wide sale through Ford dealers.

Derived from the saloon, the Focus CC has a strengthened floor pan and shares only the front wings, door skins, bonnet and bumpers with its donor derivative. The interior trim and colours are unique to the model, which is the first European Ford to have a power operated hardtop.

Using the same roof folding mechanism as the Volvo C70, the Focus CC has a particularly high rear deck which means the boot space is 234 – 534 litres and it seats four people.
